As a result of numerous requests, English Learner Portal is developing a new 5 hour mini-course titled "Online Language & Literacy Development for English Learners".  This course will be fully facilitated online and include opportunities to collaborate with others.  I am excited about the ideas we are gathering from experts and current teachers across the world.

This course will include attention to:

• important considerations for teaching English learners online
• specific research based strategies for developing literacy online (without subscriptions to other services)
• specific research based strategies for developing language and content simultaneously (Science, Social Studies, & Math)
• ideas for students who cannot access online classrooms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
• parent engagement in a distance learning setting
• social and emotional wellness in a distance learning setting

This course is designed to meet the needs of both content and ESL teachers as we continue to explore the world of distance learning.

This mini-course will run July 20th - August 21st. This course is asynchronous with optional opportunities for synchronous collaboration each week of the course.

Due to expected high demand, we are first offering pre-sale seats for $40 per person.  Once the course is released to the public, seats will be $49 per person.  Purchase orders or group enrollments are available by emailing [email protected].
